Target Audience:

This course is recommended for anyone who works with children, young people or their families.

As with all Advanced level courses, completion of Working Together to Safeguard Children is strongly recommended to be completed first.

Aim:

To increase practitioners’ knowledge and skills in safeguarding the children of parents with a learning disability.

Learning Outcomes, by the end of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Be able to effectively assess and manage the risk to children when parental learning disability is a factor
  • Describe your role and responsibilities and develop your engagement skills
  • Explain the value of collaborative working where learning disability is a factor for parents
  • Have increased knowledge of local resources that are available to assist professionals who working with parental learning disability (including the Kirklees Protocol)
