This course is recommended for anyone who works with children, young people or their families.
As with all Advanced level courses, completion of Working Together to Safeguard Children is strongly recommended to be completed first.
Aim:
To enable practitioners to understand the particular safeguarding issues faced by Newly Arrived Families and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
Learning Outcomes, by the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Describe the migration routes newly arrived families and unaccompanied asylum seeking children may have taken to Kirklees and the impact this may have had on them
- Outline the process of immigration in the UK and the support received by newly arrived families and unaccompanied asylum seeking children both pre and post decision
- Discuss the particular safeguarding issues and vulnerabilities faced by newly arrived families and unaccompanied asylum seeking children
- Explain your role and the role of partner agencies in identifying and addressing safeguarding issues faced by newly arrived families and unaccompanied asylum seeking children
