Aim:
To raise awareness of the psychological impact of domestic abuse and support participants to respond appropriately to victims of domestic abuse.

 

Learning Outcomes, by the end of the course the participants will be able to:

 

  • Define the five aspects of domestic abuse
  • Explain the impact of domestic abuse on intimate partner and adult family victims
  • Describe how abusive relationships develop and identify potential barriers to separation and/or engaging with professionals
  • Demonstrate appropriate professional responses to indicators of domestic abuse
  • Assess risk from disclosures and victim behaviour
  • Identify appropriate sources of support for victims of domestic abuse and measures to assist victims to mitigate risk
