Target Audience:

This course is recommended for anyone who works with children, young people or their families. As with all Advanced level courses, completion of Working Together to Safeguard Children is strongly recommended to be completed first.

Aim:

The Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) is a Home Office Product designed to provide individuals with an awareness of Prevent.   Prevent is part of the Governments Counter Terrorism Strategy known as Contest.  Prevent aims to prevent people from becoming involved in terrorism or supporting terrorism.

Learning Outcomes, by the end of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Understand Prevent and its aims
  • Think about who may be vulnerable to violent extremism and radicalisation
  • See why some people are able to influence and manipulate others to commit crimes
  • Recognise when a vulnerable individual may be in need of help
  • Be clear on what help and support looks like in this area, and who you should contact if you have concerns
